Subway

For Collier's magazine. The story, a true one, was of a mad bomber in a New York City subway car. It exploded and caused terror and mayhem on the system. I tried to illustrate a furtive, nondescript man leaving the Fourteenth Street station, perhaps having just planted a second bomb. My feeling was that a lack of color would be appropriate for the feeling of the impending catastrophe. I used India ink and dyes on illustration board.
